About Me:

I do research in Neuroscience & Computer Science (Bioinformatics) mainly focused on algorithms, automated reasoning, computational skepticism,"mash-up networks" and computational linguistics .. I love to yoga, play capoeira, lift weights, mixed martial arts, dance, bboy and free run ( parkour ) . ... i want to be a bad-ass capoeirista, hip hop dancer, teach yoga, parkour and to own my own biotech and web companies.

I’m also looking for part-time work or contract work in web development or data analysis/data mining as I enter my dissertation year. So hit me up if you have money and want some web stuff or data analysis/data mining done.

General:

I'm a 6'6" 275 lb yogi with blond hair, and blue eyes - sort of the surfer dude becomes an NFL defensive lineman look. I love to yoga, play capoeira, lift weights, wrestle, dance and free run (parkour ). I typically do something physical 1-2 hours a day. I love mixed martial arts, capoeira and bboy'ing.

My goals in life are to own a computational biotech company (called "Mutant Genetics"), and web technology incubator and think tank (called "Fatweasel Digital") and to be a hip hop dancer. Also I plan to start some fields in computer science ("computational aggregation" and "computational skepticism")

My friends call me Bear. I was born in Brasil (Rio de Janeiro) but grew up in the United States (Berkeley and San Francisco).

I'm a PhD student in Computer Science and Neuroscience at UCLA. I live in Los Angeles (Westwood). I have Bachelor Degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a Master's Degree in Computer Science and an (almost) PhD in Computer Science.

Other than working out, sleeping, dancing and capoeira. My life is spending 60-70 hours a week on my research the theory and engineering of web mash-ups.

I also work on research on automated skepticism and data mining. That is, incorporating reasoning/evidence in to search, text mining, data mining and knowledge bases. Automated skepticism is a form of automated critical theory that deals particularly with questions of dissonance between those ideas that are accepted as true, or normal, or acceptable while marginalizing or denying other ideas.

I'm very interested in spiritual things (buddhism, catholicism, islam, taoism, hinduism, and zen) .
